Anna Gordy Gaye, the older sister of Berry Gordy and ex-wife of Marvin Gaye died of natural causes at the age of 92 yesterday. Berry Gordy credits his sister as being an important source of support that helped him find success with Motown. Anna Records was a subsidiary of Motown named after her and she was a co-writer of songs with Marvin Gaye including “Baby, I’m For Real” and “The Bells.” Gordy Gaye was the subject of Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear album that was created solely to pay her in their divorce settlement.
