“Play My Funk” was rapper/singer Simple E’s Native Tongue-sounding single from her Colouz Of Sound debut. The Oakland, California resident had the benefit of Dwayne Wiggins from Tony! Toni! Tone! to produce the single and the bulk of her album. Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Mista Lawnge also produced songs on the project that was another example of rappers adding singing to their music. “Play My Funk” was also used for the Sugar Hill soundtrack.
