“Slick Nick, You Devil You” is Fishbone’s Xmas parody of the Santa Claus myth from their 1987 It’s A Wonderful Life EP. Santa is a tattoo-having, Jack Daniels-spilling bum who fell over the Xmas tree and gets immortalized by Black punk rockers. The video for “It’s A Wonderful Life” was a meme for alternative rock fans in the ’80’s because of the black and white images of the band woven together with scenes from Frank Capra’s film of the same name. The EP was short at 4 songs but their punk funk nucleus was fully formed and their awareness of the somber side of a Reaganesque world produced one of the most original Xmas albums ever.
