Throwback: Milira-Go Outside In The Rain

Milira Jones is a native of Hollis, New York and started singing as a youngster in church. She won a contest at the Apollo Theater and gained a recoding contract with Motown when she was 19 years old. Her eponymous debut was released in 1990 and there were two singles to chart including “Go Outside In The Rain” and a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)”. Back Again was her 1992 sophomore album and “Three’s A Crowd” and “One Man Woman” spent some time on the R&B charts. Milira left the recording industry and became a school teacher and then a real estate agent. According to her website she is currently writing music for a new album.
