Cathy Dennis is a British singer/songwriter who started her career in 1989 with the single “C’Mon Get My Love” after being signed to Polydor at age 17 by entertainment impresario Simon Fuller. The song was the first of three successful singles she would have in collaboration with D’Mob including “That’s The Way Of The World” and “Why.” Her debut album Move To This became an international dance music success because of “Just Another Dream,” “(Touch Me) All Night Long” and “Too Many Walls.” Her second album Into The Skyline came out in 1992 and “You Lied To Me,” “Irresistible,” “Moments Of Love,” “Falling” and “Why” were the singles. She also made an appearance on the TV show Beverly Hills 90210 and sang back-up on P.M. Dawn’s “Looking Through Patient Eyes.” Inspiration was her third album and she stopped recording it before it was done and “S.O.S” was the only song released from the project. “Love’s On Every Corner” was recorded by Dannii Minogue and it was the first song Dennis wrote for another artist. Am I The Kinda Girl was her third and final solo album that showed a different style of music and it produced a cover of Ray Davies “Waterloo.” Dennis rose as a songwriter when she wrote “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” for Kylie Minogue in 2001. Her pen is responsible for the theme to American Idol and songs for Celine Dion, The Jonas Brothers, S Club 7 and most famously “I Kissed A Girl” for Katy Perry and “Toxic” for Britney Spears. Several other artists have recorded songs written by Perry including Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, Latoya Luckett, Jordin Sparks and others. Her work has earned her 5 Igor Novello Awards, 2 ASCAP awards and 2 Grammys. Dennis is currently working with Heidi Montag on her debut album.
