Chicago-based activists Epic, Illekt, Jasson, Perez, and DJ Esquire are hip-hop group BBU. The BBU stands for Bin Laden Blowing Up or Black, Brown and Ugly. and they have a new mixtape coming out in 2012 named after the professor/writer/public intellectual bell hooks. “Outlaw Culture” which is also the name a hooks’ publication, is the latest single from the upcoming mixtape.
