Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede became Camp Lo in 1995. The Bronx-raised duo entered the recording world in 1996 with “Coolie High” from “The Great White Hype” soundtrack. “Luchini AKA This Is It” was the second single from their Ski Beatz produced debut Uptown Saturday Night. The feel-good soulful jazz production underneath their cool rapping made gave them good notice in the industry. The song was able to attract opportunities to work with Will Smith, De La Soul and Oran “Juice” Jones. They had a Japan-only release of the Short Eyes EP in 2001 and came back with Let’s Do It Again as a full album in 2002. “Glow” and “How U Walkin'” were the singles and Ski Beatz did the producing again but the project did not have the magic of their previous album. Black Hollywood came out in 2007 and this effort also tried to reclaim the vibe of their first album. Stone & Rob Caught On Tape and Another Heist were both released in 2009 with the former receiving good critical reviews. In 2011 they released the free mixtape for their collaborative project with Pete Rock called 80 Blocks From Tiffany’s.
