Red, Hot + Indigo is the 13th album from the Red Hot AIDS series and this one is dedicated to Duke Ellington. And in keeping with the coolness of the series there are interesting covers from a variety of artists. “Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me” is one of Ellington’s creations from 1940 that was originally an instrumental for his trumpet player Cootie Williams but later had lyrics added by Bob Russell. The song became a R&B and pop hit in 1944 when Ellington had Al Hibbler sing the vocals. Mary J. Blige proudly contributed her version for the cause.
