Teena Marie died today of undisclosed causes but she did suffer a grand mal seizure last month. Marie was one of best soul singers to ever live. She is the best white soul singer to ever do it. Her introduction into the music business with Rick James back in 1979 was fated and started the public’s love affair with her voice. She only crossed over once with “Lovergirl” and it wasn’t something she cared about. Her last album from 2009 was Congo Square and it maintained the quality she was known for. Now she and Rick are somewhere in the ethers singing “Fire and Desire” together for an eternity.
