Bahamadia got her start in hip-hop DJing parties around her native Philadelphia in the ’80’s. In 1993 her first single “Funk Vibe” was released independently with the help of DJ Ran. The song caught the attention of Guru of Gangstarr fame and he helped her get a label deal with Chrysalis. In 1994 “Total Wreck” was released and “Uknowhoweddu” came in 1995. She was immediately received by the public and the full-length Kollage CD debuted in 1996. Chrysalis went out of business and Bahamadia made appearances on records with Sweetback, Towa Tei, The Roots, Roni Size, Rah Digga, Slum Village and Reflection Eternal. In 2000 she signed a deal with Goodvibe Recordings and created the BB Queen EP that was produced by Dwele. In 2006 Good Rap Music was released on the B-Girl Freedom label and made available on iTunes in 2010. Her fourth album Here is her newest project and it will also be released on the B-Girl Freedom label in the near future.
