The Jazz Warriors were a collective of young Black jazz musicians from London who made their introduction in 1985. Out Of Many, One People was their first release in 1987 and it proved to be a launching pad for group members like Courtney Pine, Orphy Robinson and Gary Crosby who went on to found Jazz Jamaica and The Jazz Jamaica All Stars. Their version of Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon” comes from 1993’s The Rebirth Of Cool Volume One. In 2007 Pine created a new version of the band with a couple of old members to record Afropeans which was a tribute to the ending of the transatlantic slave trade.
