Alicia Keys’ Keep A Child Alive foundation held its seventh annual Black Ball event at the Hammerstein Ballrom in New York City last night. Keys got to fulfill a dream by sharing the stage with Sade during “Love Is Stronger Than Pride.” I know that Keys was probably excited and had great intentions but this duet supports Sade’s exclusion of duets and collaborations from her discography. Sade did mention earlier this year that she prefers not to collaborate with other artists for fear of the ending result not being up to par.
Keys ruins this song. Unlike most of the hip hop and rnb artists of today, Sade doesn’t need collaborators. She’s better all by herself with her longtime band.
