Multi-platinum Grammy award nominated R&B star, Kelly Price, performs during the grand finale of the hour-long fundraiser that will be broadcast commercial-free by ABC, NBC, and CBS TONIGHT at 8 p.m. ET. Network anchors Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, and Brian Williams will co-host the event.
Cancer research is very near and dear to Kelly’s heart, she has donated more than a quarter of a million dollars to Cancer research since the start of her career. Her mother and mother-in-laws were both inflicted with the disease. She recently told elev8.com, “Unfortunately, my husband lost [both] his mom and [step-mother] to breast cancer. My mother is doing well and has been in remission for 10 years but her entire lifestyle had to change. It’s so important that we educate ourselves about breast cancer. One of the most vivid memories I have when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer is being in the doctor’s office with my sisters and the doctor asked my mom, “What took you so long to come?” She replied “I was afraid.” I realized FEAR is a big factor and we need to work toward eliminating the fear factor of going to the doctor and getting our annual mammogram. We must be proactive and watch for signs.”
Kelly is currently promoting her new single across the country and is setting up the release of a new self-titled album due November 23rd on Warren Campbell’s My Block Records.
