Lyrics Born, a pillar of California indie hip-hop, is bringing his esteemed contemporaries Chali 2na (formerly of Jurassic 5) and Rakaa (of Dilated Peoples) on a string of tour dates in support of his upcoming album, As U Were slated for an October 26th release on Decon Records. All three performers promise to deliver career-spanning sets that will reaffirm their stature as some of the most creative and consistent performers in modern rap.
Lyrics Born readies audiences for the release of As U Were by punctuating every performance with exuberant singing, fluent rapping, and a full band. Chali 2na is a veteran of the Los Angeles scene whose most recent effort, Fishmarket 2, is a highly praised exercise in multi-syllabic pentameters. Rakaa’s recent solo debut, Crown Of Thorns, is a masterful exploration of political themes in reference to the music industry applying the findings to a greater social canvas. This is the 4th Auto Reverse Tour Lyrics Born has curated, this time in association with Decon, demonstrating why they’re amongst the country’s premier independent hip-hop labels.
