?uestlove and Kelly Rowland celebrate The Best of Soul Train DVD

(New York, NY) – Kelly Rowland and ?uestlove celebrate their love for Soul Train, the innovative, culturally influential and significant music show, by making promotional appearances to support the release of “The Best of Soul Train,” a 3 DVD set hitting retail August 31 for the first time via Time Life.

Rowland, who received her first national television exposure on Soul Train as a member of the multi-platinum recording group Destiny’s Child, appeared on The Today Show on Monday, August 30 along with Reuters Worldwide Newswire.

?uestlove, music director for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and member of GRAMMY Award-winning Fallon house band, The Roots, is an avid Soul Train fan and connoisseur, with an extremely extensive Soul Train collection. ?uestlove will participate in a two-hour, nationwide satellite media tour on Tuesday, August 31.

Soul Train is the longest first run television series in syndication history (on air from 1970 – 2006) and widely recognized as a national launch pad for one-of-a-kind superstar performances, outrageous fashions, hip dances and the iconic Soul Train Dance Line. First set in Chicago, it launched on WCIU-TV with local radio and television personality Don Cornelius on August 17, 1970. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Soul Train skyrocketed nationally, offering a window into African American music and culture. Cornelius was responsible for a new era in African American expression, with many of his sayings entering the popular American lexicon including “A groove that will make you move real smooth,” and “Wishing you Love, Peace, and Soul!”
