SYNOPSIS:
Kings of the Underground tells the story of the humble beginnings of Pimp C and Bun B, who eventually banded together to form the super rap duo UGK. The film chronicles UGK’s influence on hip-hop and their quest to remain relevant in a volatile industry. The candid expose’ also examines Pimp C’s personal struggle with prison and Bun B’s crusade for his partner’s freedom. Ultimately, UGK’s quest to re-conquer the rap world was cut short by the untimely death of Pimp C. • UGK (short for Underground Kingz) was a Grammy Award nominated hip-hop duo that formed in 1987.
• They released several Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip Hop charting albums, including the self-titled Underground Kingz album which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in August 2007.
• The group has also been featured on hit singles by other artists, such as on Big Pimpin’ by Jay-Z and Sippin’ on Some Syrup by Three 6 Mafia.
