Marvin Isley, the youngest of the Isley music family, passed yesterday at a hospice in Chicago of undisclosed causes. One of Isley’s most memorable bass licks is the sound he created on The Isley’s “Fight The Power” among other songs like “For The Love Of You.” In the 80’s he formed Isley Jasper Isley with brother-in-law Chris Jasper and sibling Ernie Isley and the scored the hit “Caravan Of Love.” He joined his family’s group in 1973 during the second incarnation of the group. In the ’96 he became so ill with diabetes and the effects of a stroke that he had to stop performing with The Isleys. He did get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with his brothers in ’92.
