Ron Banks of The Dramatics passed this morning at his home in Detroit. Banks lead the Old School group known for its smooth soulful R&B that spawned such classics as “In The Rain,” “Watcha See Is Watcha Get,” “Hey You! Get Off My Mountain,” “Door To Your Heart,” “Oceans Of Hearts And Dreams,” “Be My Girl,” “I Can’t Get Over You” and many more. Just like hip-hop longlasting R&B groups are blessed finds. Coming together in 1962 few bands can boast of the kind of longevity that The Dramatics have had who performing most recently at the Motor City Casino’s Sound Board venue in November. Banks’s falsetto and tenor joins group members William “Wee Gee” Howard, Elbert Wilkins, James Mack Brown and Leonard “Lenny” Mayes in the sky.
