HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative: Join Washington, DC’s Young Professionals Raise Funds for Haiti’s Disaster Relief

(Washington, D.C. – February 02, 2010)HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative comes to Washington, D.C. on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Washington, D.C.’s young professionals are gearing up to host HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative, a multi-city benefit to raise money and supplies for Haiti through a celebration of the country’s unique cultural contributions. The HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative is a multi-city collaboration between a New York-based leadership committee and local professionals throughout the United States who want to provide immediate support to Haitians who have been affected by the January 12 earthquake.

Their first event was held on January 20 in New York City, followed by an event on January 27 in Chicago. HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative has proven to be a huge success and has raised nearly $27,000 for disaster relief. The events have been well attended by politicians, including New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Representative David E. Miller (IL) and Senator Kwame Raoul (IL), community partners and national celebrities including Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton and Kwame Jackson. Now it’s time for Washington, DC’s young professionals to stand together and show support.

HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative, Washington, DC will take place this Thursday, February 4 at Ozio’s Restaurant and Lounge; 1813 M Street NW from 6pm to 2am. The DC event is a strategic partnership with: UNICEF and Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees. 100% of monetary proceeds generated thru HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative will be donated evenly to these agencies with a designation for their Haiti earthquake relief efforts. Music will be provided by renowned DJs Cuzzin’ B, Harry Hotter, Scientific, Supa Scotty, Jon Quick, and Top Choice. DJs Jean Michel, YVECO, and Chick will spin a special Haitian music set featuring the sounds of Konpa and Zouk.

“By attending the event, participants will become the truest embodiment of the motto inscribed on the Haitian flag: strength through unity,” said event founder Gardy V. Guerrier.

“The HEARTS4HAITI Global Initiative is an amazing concept with boundless potential. It’s about the collective cooperation of young professionals, as citizens of the world, taking action to restore a hopeful and bright future for Haiti. The support we’ve witnessed has been extremely humbling and gratifying,” adds event host Marc F. McKayle.
