Music Choice Celebrates Black History Month by Showcasing “Past, Present & Future” of Black Music

NEW YORK, NY—February 2, 2010—Music Choice® (www.musicchoice.com), the award-winning, multi-platform video and music network, will commemorate Black History Month by focusing on the “Past, Present & Future” of Black Music, featuring a wide variety of artists and superstars who have played significant roles in the history of Black Music, including: John Legend, Jay-Z, P. Diddy, 2Pac, Lil’ Wayne and many more. The featured content will include two themed video playlists: “Hip Hop History” and “Hip Hop All Stars.” Viewers will get to spend the day with John Legend in the special edition of the Music Choice Original “B.I.G.”

The video programming for Black History Month will be available to millions of subscribers on Music Choice’s free On Demand network, the number one video on demand network in the country, throughout the month of February, and will include:
Hip Hop History – 2Pac, Notorious BIG, Dr. Dre and Diddy headline this Video Playlist with a selection of their most memorable videos.
Hip Hop All Stars – Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Gucci Mane and Plies headline this Video Playlist with a selection of their top videos.

John Legend B.I.G. (Best in the Game) Feature – Music Choice spends the day with John Legend as he tells us why he’s “Best in the Game”.
In addition to Music Choice On Demand video programming, many of the popular Music Choice® Music Channels, including Hip Hop and R&B, Throwback Jamz and R&B Classics will feature audio programming and interactive features to showcase Black Music’s “Past, Present & Future.” The featured programming in February includes –
Tribute to The Sound of Philadelphia – Music Choice’s R&B Classics channel salutes “The Sound of Philadelphia” by featuring the one and only Teddy Pendergrass and other popular artists from the influential music scene, such as Patti LaBelle and The O’Jays.
Black History Month Facts – Music Choice’s Classic R&B, Gospel, Hip-Hop Classics, Hip-Hop and R&B, Jazz and Blues, Rap, R&B Soul and Throwback Jamz music channels will feature special facts about prominent events and individuals related to Black History while the best mix-show jocks showcase their skills by playing the music from back in the day as well as today’s hit makers on the Hip-Hop and R&B and Throwback Jamz channels.
Hip Hop and R&B Interactivity – Through Music Choice’s popular interactive ShowOff programming block on the network’s Hip-Hop and R&B channel, viewers will get the chance to text, e-mail or AIM in their personal messages about the importance of Black History and answer trivia about influential people and milestones in the history of Black Music and watch for their messages to appear on the TV screen. ShowOff airs weekdays between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm (EST).
