Award-winning Gospel Artist Tonex could add a Grammy Award to his long list of prestigious honors. The musician recently learned that several of his albums are in the running to be nominated for awards in several categories including Best Urban / Alternative Performance, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.
Tonex is no stranger to the limelight. His Innovative melodies, infectious energy, and smooth voice, have endeared him to both Christian and mainstream audiences alike earning him three Grammy Award nominations as well as a nomination for a BET Award. In addition, he is a two-time Dove Award winner and has won eight Stellar Awards.
The artist said that the possibility of receiving a Grammy nomination is not something that he takes lightly. “It would mean that I am named among the many other great artists that I have admired for years,†Tonex said.
The announcement of a possible Grammy nomination comes just as the artist is planning to release several of his hits digitally. Since early last year, Tonex has focused on building his label Nureau iNK and releasing many of his previously unreleased songs through digital retailers. Now fans can look forward to more of his music coming out in digital format in the coming weeks.
One upcoming release is fan favorite ‘CIRCUSS,’ which was made available online more than 10 years ago, but was deemed too controversial for a gospel label to release. It has consistently been one of his most sought-after albums by fans.
Also available will be a remix (ep) of his platinum single, ‘Personal Jesus,’ along with popular albums not previously released digitally ‘Bapost.o.g.i.c’ and ‘Oak Park 921’06.’ Downloads of all four albums will be available for purchase on Nov. 17.
