October 2009 Show and Prove – “Something for the Ladies”
October 2009 Show and Prove
“Something for the Ladies” going down this TUESDAY 10/20 at 9pm
Brooklyn, NY
October 19, 2009
If you care about the ladies of Hip Hop, then you already know about the all female MC lineup going down this Tuesday 9pm at Public Assembly in Williamsburg.
Come show your support for the women, on and off the mic, who pour their souls into Hip Hop. In today’s competitive music industry, women are subject to a quiet chauvinism that leaves stages and offices full of testosterone. As a company with no such bias, Brooklyn Bodega is providing a platform this Tuesday for all of the women in the Hip-Hop nation who share the Bodega’s deep passion for the culture. Share your passion for the art of rhyming with these up and coming talented female MC’s. Your attendance will help prove to the Hip Hop community that female artists and their fans are here and will not be swept into a corner. Let us empower these female MC’s by giving them our support.
“I think it is imperative that everyone, man or woman, who feels that women in Hip-Hop have been slighted, ignored or held back come out and support [Show and Prove this Tuesday at Public Assembly]. Not only to see the talented performers but to let New York know that the fan base is there. One of my favorite Mos Def lines is ‘I burn through your argument with action.’ The time for rhetoric is over. It is time for all of us to show and prove that there are 1) Hip-Hop organizations advocating for the ladies, 2) quality female MC’s who can rock the mic as well as anyone, and 3) that there are fans who will come out and show their financial support. We’ll see you in the trenches.” –Wes Jackson, President of Brooklyn Bodega.
