Los Angeles, CA – August 27, 2009 – Astronomers count the Aurigid meteor shower as one of the rarest occurring in our galaxy. Every two thousand years it lights up the sky with an excess of 200 hundred shooting stars. Comedy lovers are beginning to take note of another rare occurrences in their orbit, a unique sketch comedy troupe known as Slow Children Crossing. Called one of Los Angeles’ premiere troupes, SCC is trailblazing a new brand of funny with a mélange of topical, whimsical, high brow, low brow, political, and spoof humor that will excite all of your senses.

Composed of three women and two men, this band of vibrant individuals will keep audiences in stitches. Infused with such influences as Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, SNL and Benny Hill it’s easy to see why they are often described as “Kids in the Hall” meets “In Living Color”.

It all started in the devious mind of Brett Butler, a veteran of the New York sketch comedy scene fresh off his stint from “Sealab: 2021”, the Adult Swim cartoon with the cult-like following. He was looking for a new vehicle, though he admits that when he decided to relocate to Los Angeles he had no idea what kind of cohorts would sign on to his experiment. He hooked up with a drinking buddy Alem Brhan Sapp, who also happened to be a veteran of stage and film, appearing in major productions including Law & Order, All My Children, Pootie Tang, How High and The Royal Tenenbaums. Together they went to the one place they knew they could find anything they were looking for, Craigslist! Destini Meshack (BET’s “Played by Fame”) already with another comedy troupe, answered the call. Once Saudia Rashed (“The New Guy”), a professional dancer looking to stretch her comedic skills and Tiffany Thomas (“The Boondocks”) came aboard, the meetings were instant sizzle and Brett knew he had something special. “I knew I wanted a group that went against the status quo.” The chemistry was instant. They began with a spot dates along L.A’s theatre row – and it wasn’t long before the Comedy Central bigwigs invited them to perform to a sold out show at the popular “Comedy Central Stage” at the Hudson.

Critics & audiences alike cite the group’s electric energy, and their willingness to make fun of the world and themselves as the main attraction. One such audience member, award-winning French filmmaker, Maya Schweizer, was so entranced; she made them the subject of her 2009 film “Before the Rehearsal”. Politics, race, sex, slavery, celebrities; no topic is left untouched when these comic scientists are in the lab. SCC is constantly employing different mediums and venues as conduits for their chicanery. Besides their widely viewed YouTube page, Facebook fans, and their own website, they are in talks to launch a reality show; and are presently creating “SCCTV”: webisodes mixed with live and filmed material; all laced with what they call, “Inappropriate humor for all”. With these comedic tools in their arsenal, SCC will be just as hard to ignore as an Aurigid meteor shower.

Together their energy creates a kinetic force and like graffiti artists, they have already begun to leave a colorful impression on not just Los Angeles but across the country including New York, Austin, Seattle, Boston, Chicago and anywhere else their parole officers will allow them to go. Seemingly born from comic jets, their high energy show will leave your head spinning, your sides splitting, and your mind wondering, “…hmmm Slow Children Crossing? Aren’t we all?
