Dallas, TX – Hip hop and dance have always been a winning combination. The energetic kinetics of the youthful trend has inspired a movement that has propelled bodies clear around the globe. Dance, like music is a language spoken universally, transcending not only borders, but time and space.

Florida native, Lauren Outlaw understands the magic of movement. The 26 year old choreographer has captured the attention of millions of viewers in over 12 European countries, including Bosnia, Greece, Serbia and Turkey, keeping them entranced with her engaging rhythm and rousing dance moves. Outlaw has just recently returned home to the states having completed the stint of a lifetime. The young dance teacher was the wildly popular head dance trainer & choreographer on two of Endemol Productions’ top television shows worldwide, “Star Academy” and “Operacion Triunfo.”

Endemol is one of the world’s largest production houses. Known in the states for their hits such as “Deal or No Deal,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” and “Fear Factor,” “Star Academy” and “Operacion Triunfo” are their most popular overseas titles. “Operacion Triunfo” and “Star Academy” are reality-show talent contests described as a cross between “American Idol,” “Star Search” and “Big Brother.” The contestants live together on-camera and take classes in preparation for their performances.
Mz. Outlaw Outlaw’s selection as head dance trainer and choreographer was a major career highlight so early in her career. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, she began her dance education at the age of 6, studying and training in classical ballet, jazz, tap, modern, tumbling and cheerleading. Outlaw attended Fayetteville State University initially, completing her studies at the University of Central Florida, majoring in Psychology and Dance.

While attending UCF, she owned and operated her own studio, Butterfly Danzers, Inc. a dance company that provided over 300 underprivileged youth with professional level dance classes at affordable prices. In 2005, Lauren traveled to New York City to dance! During her year in the city, she was trained and certified at the Hip Hop Dance Conservatory & Broadway Dance Center. She now resides in Dallas, TX.

A culmination of all her life experiences came into play while teaching reality show contestants who barely spoke English, complicated hip hop steps and routines. The challenges endeared her in the hearts of the viewing audience and the young choreographer was propelled to a star status of her own. European media hailed her as a diva of dance in her own right! The Republic of Georgia even held a wedding for her and her then fiancé which was televised as an episode.

“It was frustrating at times working because some of the countries had no idea of what hip hop was,” reveals Outlaw. “One producer told me I was bringing a dance revolution to their country! I met so many amazing people, some which I still keep in close contact with. The entire experience is of course one I will never forget.”

“Rolling out a high profiled TV format in a difficult territory such as Eastern Europe is not easy,” adds consulting producer, Joost Roset from Endemol International. “Having Lauren on board meant a great relief and a constant quality level on the overall performance on stage during the weekly prime time shows. Featuring her in the daily reality episodes raised the production value to the next level. Our audiences fell in love with her.”

Riding high on the heals of her newfound European fame and success, Lauren Outlaw is busying herself working with new artists, and traveling the country judging dance & cheer competitions. She is also working on college campuses choreographing national hip hop routines as well as working on her own fitness video.

“Success doesn’t just come to you,” cites Outlaw. “You have to go get it. While I have accomplished a lot so far, I will never just settle. I believe you can always accomplish more!”

Lauren Outlaw is a vision of how far on one’s passion can take them. For her, it’s taken her to Europe and back. Who knows what this gifted young choreographer will dance into next! Check out her moves at http://www.mzoutlaw.com.
