Throwback: It’s Alright I Feel It (Mood II Swing Mix)- Nuyorican Soul

Nuyorican Soul was a project undertaken by Masters At Work in ’97. Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez and “Little” Louie Vega have made dance music together for almost two decades having professionally started their alliance in ’90. Instead of their usual electronic work as MAW, Kenlou, Sole Fusion and a few other aliases Nuyorican Soul put them in the studio with musicians like George Benson, Roy Ayers, Vincent Montana Jr. and members of the Salsoul Orchestra. Jocelyn Brown’s robust voice gives this song from the album an almighty presence that adds life to the groove. Of all the remixes Mood II Swing’s was always my favorite. On another note MAW’s hot remix of “Erotica” was rejected by Madonna because she said she sounded like a chipmunk which is funny because Kanye West made a similar approach popular years later.
