The Miles Davis Quintet- “So What” From The Sound Of Miles Davis

Miles Davis’s famous quintet were recorded playing the ubiquitous “So What” for producer Robert Herridge at CBS studios on April 2, 1959. The footage was aired July 21, 1960 as an episdoe of The Robert Herridge Theater called “The Sound Of Miles Davis.” They played the song for the TV show but were actually recording the Kind Of Blue album where the song came from during these months for Columbia which was not far away from CBS. This filmed recording came back to surface last year and it is a documentation of the best-selling jazz album being put into motion.
