New York, NY – J Records? singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan shows no fear of success as her debut single “Need U Bad” claims the No. 1 spot this week on Billboard?s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts, thus making her the first female in almost four years (the 8th this decade!) to accomplish this achievement! The Jonathan Mannion-directed video for “Need U Bad” has been No. 1 on BET?s 106 & Park video countdown show for 3 non-consecutive days since her live August 21st performance on the program. The video is also the second highest rated R&B video on AOL Music.

Now with a chart-topping hit single and her J Records? debut disc Fearless confirmed for a September 23rd release, all eyes and ears are focused on Jazmine Sullivan. The 21 year-old Philly native has been selected for the coveted new artist spotlights on VH1 Soul?s You Oughta Know http://www.vh1.com/artists/you_oughta_know/, and MTV?s Discover and Download http://www.mtv.com/music/discover_download/. On September 24, BET will air Jazmine Sullivan = Fearless, a 30-minute special featuring the talented songstress performing tracks from her debut disc.

As an Executive Producer and sole songwriter on Fearless, Sullivan (along with Missy Elliott, Salaam Remi and Peter Edge) has orchestrated a debut opus full of lush musical arrangements by Elliott, Remi, Stargate, Jack Splash, Fisticuffs and more – all complemented by her expressive yet witty songwriting skills and rich vocals. From the introductory reggae-inspired single “Need U Bad,” and the 60’s soulfulness on ?One Night Stand,? to the prime-time drama of ?Bust Your Windows? and the heart-wrenching ?After The Hurricane,? Fearless will be a much needed respite from the multitude of releases set for the remainder of the year.

Summarizing Jazmine?s distinctive musical talents, Missy Elliott states: “Jazmine stands out from all the other artists because she sings with so much conviction! But not only is she a great singer, she’s a great writer. She’s not just an artist, she’s a performer! She’s just as great live as she is on records. And you don’t get that from a lot of artists today.”

Beginning October 8 at Boston?s Opera House, Jazmine will bring her unique brand of bold and beautiful music with a rebellious spirit to the stage as the opening act on the highly-anticipated Maxwell tour. The tour is scheduled to trek across twenty-five cities, ending in Jazmine?s hometown of Philadelphia on November 21.
