Valerie June-Workin’ Woman Blues Live On Jools Holland

Country/blues singer Valerie June made an appearance on Later With Jools Holland and she performed “Workin’ Woman Blues.” June is on tour in Europe right now and her debut album Pushin’ Against A Stone will be released in May. Sister Rosetta Tharpe had to be smiling down on this performance.

Sankofa is a string band dedicated to folk music and “If Wishes Were Gold” is the first single from The Uptown Strut. The album was a work-in-progress since 2009 and it is a collection of mostly cover songs but Allison Russell wrote “If Wishes Were Gold” about an unfulfilled personal relationship.
