Chaka Khan Is The 2019 Tournament Of Roses Grand Marshall

Chaka Khan has been named the Grand Marshall for the 2019 Tournament Of Roses. Khan received the honor on the Tournament House lawn in Pasadena, California Wednesday morning. It is Khan’s first time taking on the duty and she expressed her gratitude and fear entering into something new. The icon will appear in the Rose Parade and the pre-game activities on January 1st.

The Rose Parade, which started in 1890, is a New Year’s Day tradition meant to salute the blooming of roses in Sacramento at a time when other parts of the country are buried in snow. The flowers are assembled on floats for the parade and the best ones win trophies. The Rose Bowl football game, the coronation of the Rose Bowl Queen and the Equestfest are among the activities taking place.  The parade’s theme this year is The Melody Of Life to acknowledge the importance of music and Chaka Khan said she is already nervous about what to perform that day.
