Santigold: I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions Album Stream

Santigold surprises fans with the release of her dancehall album I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions. The 10-song collection was put together with Dre Skull and she told Pitchfork that the music is about social commentary and the passion needed to fight for your beliefs. The artist had twins earlier this year and is currently doing some tour dates with Lauryn Hill. Santigold’s last album was 99¢ from two years ago. 


Kandace Springs Releases Video For Don’t Need The Real Thing

Kandace Springs shares her video for “Don’t Need The Real Thing” from ahead of her Indigo album release. The visual follows her and a lover as they take a road trip and deal with their personal conflicts. The single which uses a sample of Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side” has more of a pop feel compared to the music from her debut album. Indigo is her sophomore project and it comes out September 7th. 


Craft Recordings Releasing For Discos Only

Craft Recordings is releasing a collection of the ’70s and ’80s indie disco from the Fantasy and Vanguard labels. Music from Sylvester, The Blackbyrds, Ike Turner Feat. Tina Turner, Two Tons O’ Fun and more will be compiled into three CDs and five albums. There are over 30 songs and several 12″ remixes with liner notes written by Bill Brewster co-author of A DJ Saved My Life. Many of the songs were not radio hits but were played heavily in New York clubs like Studio 54 and the Paradise Garage. For Discos Only: Indie Dance Music From Fantasy & Vanguard Records (1976-1981) will be available August 24th on CD, LP or digitally.
