Pam Grier Biopic In The Works

A biopic about ’70s action film star Pam Grier is being developed and shopped. Grier’s life as the first woman to make action movies and her colorful personal life with exes like Richard Pryor and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made her one the of the most watched and talked about stars of the era. Bennie Richburg wrote the script for the project that has the working title Pam.

According to Deadline, Jay Pharoah connected to Pam after reading the script and is slated to play Pryor. Grier had a resurgence in popularity when she starred in the Quentin Tarantino-directed Jackie Brown. Tarantino wrote the movie specifically for Grier and Robert Forster. The film just had its 20th anniversary this past December. She also had a recurring role on The L-Word.

In 2017, Grier appeared in Bad Grandmas and Rose. She was scheduled to be in an Amazon series directed by David O. Russell that has been stopped because of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Grier shared her life on the page when she released her autobiography Foxy: My Life In Three Acts in 2010.
