Donna Summer Musical Going To Broadway

A musical about Donna Summer will open on Broadway April 23rd at the Nederlander Organization’s Lunt Fontanne Theatre. SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical looks at the life of the late Queen Of Disco. Des McAnuff will direct and Serge Trujillo is the choreographer. The duo worked together previously on the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons musical Jersey Boys. Summer brought disco to the mainstream during the ’70s and had success as a charted artist through the ’80s. Disco was criticized by some but Summer’s voice and popularity transcended the naysayers. She was the first artist to have three double albums reach the number one position on the Billboard 200 chart. Hit songs like “Bad Girls” and “Last Dance” continue to inspire, influence and move people to dance.
