Moses Sumney Performs For NPR’s Tiny Desk

Moses Sumney begins his NPR Music Tiny Desk concert alone on the piano and then he joins his band for a delicate performance of “Doomed.” The Los Angeles singer’s Aromanticism debut came out earlier this year. The three-song concert shows him working his falsetto in a Prince-like state with a band that has the rare addition of woman harp player.

Mahogany Jones misses the Golden Era in rap and old-school soul singers which she makes clear in her video for “Bring Back The Soul.” She spends her time rapping on the block, having a drink and flipping through albums representing that time in music. Jones released her Sugar Water album last year.

Zoe Kravitz is filmed in different artistic settings that come together like an indie film more than a music video. Lolowolf was last heard from in 2015 when the Every Fuckin Day EP was released.

Lion Babe’s Hit The Ceiling Is Remixed By Zikomo

Lion Babe’s “Hit The Ceiling” from HBO’s Insecure gets a dance music remix from California producer Zikomo. Jillian Hervey’s vocals are reduced to a repetitive hook within an arrangement of a classic house beat, prominent bass and an echo born out of disco.

Mary J. Blige Accepts Icon Award At Billboard’s Women In Music 2017

Mary J. Blige accepts the Icon Award at Billboard’s Women In Music Event. Taraji P. Henson introduced Mary and explained why she has been so important to culture for 25 years. A video tribute from Diddy and Ne-Yo played and both men paid homage to her. Henson presented the award to her and she gave an acceptance speech thanking everyone before she shared the responsibility of being an icon and how she will continue to fight for women with her voice.
