Madlib Drops 10 Summers Old Instrumental

Madlib shares his “10 Summers Old” instrumental single which is a limited edition 7-inch with “Barrel Proof” on the B-side. The song can be purchased from Rappcats.com and Technical Equipment Supply in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Madlib has a new collaboration album with Freddie Gibbs titled Bandana and it follows their previous success with Pinata. Madlib is on a brief break from his tour schedule that will resume at the end of the month in Manchester, England.

Watch Avery Sunshine Pay Tribute To Patti Labelle At The 2017 BMI R&B Hip-Hop Awards

Last night Patti Labelle was honored with the BMI Icon Award at the 2017 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards and Avery Sunshine performed Labelle’s “Love, Need & Want You.” The ceremony took place in Atlanta at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Symphony Hall. Ledisi, BeBe Winans, Kierra Sheard and Tasha Cobbs-Leonard all performed songs from Labelle’s catalog as part of the tribute. Labelle surprised the audience with a spontaneous performance of “Over The Rainbow.” Sunshine’s church-nurtured vocals were ideal for the tribute and dazzled the excited audience. Avery Sunshine’s Twenty Sixty Four is out now.

VanJess & GoldLink Collaborate On Through Enough

VanJess has already followed-up  “Favor” with “Through Enough” that has a feature from DMV rapper GoldLink. Lophiile produced the trance-inducing beat as the sisters sing about using caution in the pursuit of love. “Through Enough” will be heard on the season two soundtrack of HBO’s Insecure.

Rapsody: You Should Know Featuring Busta Rhymes

Rapsody is getting ready for her Roc Nation debut and she revealed the title today and it’s called Laila’s Wisdom. “You Should Know” featuring Busta Rhymes is one of the songs from the 14-song album. Over a 9th Wonder beat reminiscent of Goodie Mob’s “Cell Therapy” Rapsody raps about “Flowing so hard I need lifeguards” and Busta returns the favor with an admiration so strong that he sees her as “Such a fighter that he wishes he could multiply her.”  The artwork for Laila’s Wisdom was revealed today and the official release date is September 22nd.
