Illa J Previews Home With Single Sam Cook

It’s already been two years since Illa J released his self-titled sophomore album. Home will be his third full-length and “Sam Cook” is the first official leak and it is inspired by the late Gospel/R&B legend Sam Cooke and Calvin Valentine is the producer. Illa J mentions his fascination with singing and how important his vocal coach has been in helping him to literally get the notes out of his mouth. As far as the album title and cover art he had this to say:

“It all leads back to Home, in the most literal sense. The house I’m sitting in front of on the video for “Home” is the house my parents brought me home to as a baby. So for me it’s like going back to the original source, the original purpose. That purpose for me is to sing. That’s why this album is so special for me…and Calvin made the perfect soundtrack for me to take you on a soulful stroll through my hometown, Detroit Michigan aka Motown. Hope you enjoy! As Dank would say..”Bless up!!!!!!!!””

Home will come out on June 30th and if you pre-order it, you can stream “Sam Cook” now.
