Tuxedo is showing gratitude to their fans and supporters with the release of the 7-inch “Thank You” 45 for Record Store Day. Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One just released their sophomore Tuxedo album and will tour it this summer. “Thank You” sounds like a compact tribute to Rick James’s Stone City Band. Sean C. Johnson’s failed love search makes the video for “Save Me” a a quick act of frustration. The gospel soul singer believes that heartbreak, is an opportunity for spiritual enlightenment:
“In every failure there is a lesson to be learned and with every heartbreak there is a chance to draw closer to God.”
“Save Me” is Johnson’s new single and it is his first release of 2017.
Cuba Gooding Sr., who was the lead singer of ’70’s R&B group The Main Ingredient, was found dead today in his car. Gooding was a native of the Bronx and joined the group in 1971 after the passing of the original lead singer Don McPherson. They had success with “Everybody Plays The Fool” and “Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely.” By 1977 Gooding had left the group to have a solo career on Motown Records. He would reunite with The Main Ingredient at two different times and he re-recorded “Happiness Is Just Around The Bend” in the ’80’s. Gooding, 72, was also the father of actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar and Gooding.
Gary Clark Jr.’s “Shake” featuring Leon Bridges becomes a sketched cartoon moving at a frenetic pace. Bridges’ appearance on “Shake” fulfills the dream collaboration that many of their fans have for both of them. Clark will tour his Live North America 2016 all summer.
