Dave Chappelle’s Comedy Specials On Netflix Today

Dave Chappelle’s exit from his popular TV show in 2005 for personal and political reasons left industry people and many fans stunned because no comedian has ever walked away from success because of ethics. After leaving the show he returned to stand-up comedy, appeared in Spike Lee’s Chiraq and hosted Saturday Night Live when A Tribe Called Quest returned with new music in 2016. The Netflix specials directed by Stan Lathan come the closest to an official comeback for Chappelle and should inspire more comedians to explore the art of stand-up comedy. Both nights of shows from 2015 and 2016 are now streaming on Netflix.

Terrace Martin Presents A Velvet Portrait Short Film

Terrace Martin’s Grammy-nominated Velvet Portraits album has a short film directed by Aplusfilmz. A couple in strife go through their conflict with scenes from the street, the beach and an apartment. Martin said this about the film:

“I wanted something to represent real life, I got with a great crew of writers & directors, Aplus Filmz, a great producer, Beny Ashburn, and some great new actors and dancers. After that art was made.”

Sampha: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Sampha’s debut album Process was released earlier this year and fans are not disappointed in the London singer-songwriter’s unique style that received its launch on Drake’s “Too Much.” His NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert is a three-song set that has the length of a mini-concert but feels much longer.
