The Get Down Returns In April

Baz Luhrmann’s second season of the hip-hop Netflix series The Get Down will return on April 7th. The show debuted last year and was quickly recognized for its historical scope of hip-hop’s Bronx beginnings and the soundtrack. It was rumored that the show would not return but Nelson George announced on Twitter that part two is coming in the spring.

R.I.P. Leon Ware

Songwriter and musician Leon Ware has died at the age of 77. Ware started making a name for himself in the ’60’s when he started working with The Isley Brothers. He later co-wrote Michael Jackson’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are” with Diana Ross’ younger brother Arthur “T-Boy” Ross. Ware also wrote songs for Quincy Jones, Minnie Riperton and created the demo that Marvin Gaye used to record his  I Want You album. In the ’90’s he worked with Maxwell on his breakthrough single “Sumthin’ Sumthin’.”  Ware released 11 solo albums and recently appeared on Omar’s Love and Beats album.
