Listen To Music From The Faith Evans And Biggie Smalls The King & I Album

The Faith Evans and Notorious B.I.G. duets album, The King & I will be released on May 19th. Evans shared the tracklisting today and two songs from the album are available for streaming. “When We Party” featuring Snoop Dogg and “NYC” featuring Jadakiss are from the 25-song list  Lil’ Kim, DJ Premier, Busta Rhymes and Just Blaze are some of the other artists on the album. The King & I is available for pre-order now.

Pioneers Of African-American Cinema Streaming On Netflix

Pioneers Of African-American Cinema is a collection of 25 features from the earliest makers of films with an all-Black cast. The works of Oscar Micheaux, Spencer Williams and Richard E. Norman are among the films that have been restored by Bret Wood. At the time, the movies were called race films and they were produced outside of Hollywood. Between 1915 and 1952 up to 500 films were produced but by World War II Black actors were working in Hollywood and race films went into decline. The last film of the genre is 1954’s Carib Gold directed by Harold Young. Netflix is streaming the collection which has music from DJ Spooky, Samuel Waymon and Max Roach and others. In the 8-minute behind the scenes piece, Bret Wood talks about the films and the restoration process.


Jidenna Drops The Let Out Feat. Quavo Reveals Debut Album Release Date

Jidenna’s new single “The Let Out” featuring  Quavo from Migos just leaked and today he announced on Twitter that his debut album, The Chief would finally come out February 17th. Jidenna was one of the Wondaland Artists to join Janelle Monae at the Women’s March in Washington. After the success of “Classic Man” and the video for “Long Live The Chief” fans have been patiently waiting for his full-length album. Big Sean: Halfway Off The Balcony Official Video & I Decided Album Stream

Big Sean’s I Decided came out today and so did the video for “Halfway Off The Balcony.” Sean is introspective as he walks around a neon-lit neighborhood sharing feelings about women and giving his parents credit for keeping him stable. Watch the video and stream the album below.


Nappy Nina Releases Extra Ordinary EP

Brooklyn by way of Oakland emcee Nappy Nina has released her Extra Ordinary EP. Nina raps about cheese, spliffs and love among the topics. Stas THEE Boss and MoRuf have guest appearances on the 10-song EP that has production from the East Oakland Jazz Quartet and others.  According to the description, Extra Ordinary is supposed to be listened to with people who share love.
