Throwback: Alicia Keys-How Come You Don’t Call Me
Alicia Keys covered Prince’s “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore” on her 2001 debut album, Songs In A Minor. Keys’s “How Come You Don’t Call Me” started her professional relationship with Prince and according to her anecdote, he put her phone call on hold 10 times before he gave her permission to cover his the song. Keys singlehandedly introduced “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore” to the Millennial generation. The Neptunes remixed her cover on the Remixed & Unplugged in A Minor reissue. Keys has had the rare privilege of performing her Prince cover with the artist himself live onstage. In 2004, Keys inducted Prince into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Earlier this year she wrote a tribute to him on her website after his passing and expressed her gratitude for his influence on her music and career.
