Singer/songwriter/musician/producer Chris Rob is currently promoting his new album, Sound Of Da Struggle. Rob’s 2003 debut album, The Official Bootleg, Of Chris Rob Volume 1 revealed him to be an important and rising voice in R&B. He has spent years behind the scenes starting with his piano playing on Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothin’.” Meshell Ndegeocello personally contacted him after becoming a fan of his first project. Since then he has appeared in John Legend’s video for “So High” and opened for and been a band member for several artists including Prince, Elton John, The Roots, Snoop Dogg and Jill Scott. “She’s On The Move” is his current single from Sound Of Da Struggle and it celebrates the independent woman. The full-length album has a guest appearance from Talib Kweli and many more.
Pandora will soon offer a paid music subscription service with on-demand programming by the end of the year. Pandora is one of the more popular streaming services because they have a free option in addition to the $5 a month plan which eliminates advertising from the listening experience. Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, the Orchard, Merlin Network and a host of independent labels and distributors have made deals with Pandora for their new service. The contracts for the new product are specific to the United States only and should provide serious competition to Spotify, Google Play Music and Apple Music.
