Sheefy McFly Is Edward Elektro Preview

Detroit artist Sheefy McFly is having his album released on Moodymann’s Mahogani Music under his Edward Elektro moniker. McFly has recorded hip-hop, punk and house music and is responsible for The Air Up There hip-hop showcase in Detroit that has hosted Dej Loaf and Danny Brown in the past. McFly’s Edward Elektro album is almost a throwback to the sounds of Detroit’s Grand Pubahs and the city’s seminal techno scene. You can buy Edward Elektro from Mahogani Music August 14th.


I, CED -Forever feat. Om’Mas Keith & Thundercat


Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter I, Ced is getting ready to release his third album, What Are We Looking For in September. “Forever” is the first single and it has appearances from Om’Mas Keith and Thundercat. The St.Louis native has developed his experimental soul sound working with people like Dam-Funk and Run The Jewels. What Are We Looking For will have features from Black Spade, Quelle Chris, Jimetta Rose, Suzi Analogue and more.

The Get Down Trailer

Watch the main trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down which comes out August 12th on Netflix. The drama is set in 1977 Bronx, New York and it follows the birth of hip-hop after the death of disco. Nas, Grandmaster Flash and Nelson George are some of the producers and Jaden Smith, Jimmy Smits and Giancarlo Esposito have roles in the series.


Public Enemy Has Action Figures


Public Enemy’s Ed Piskor-designed action figures are coming out in August.  Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff and Terminator X have been recreated with PVC and ABS in their signature stagewear. The figures have movable limbs and Chuck D’s hands are in a permanent Black Power fist mode. You can pre-order the set from the Aggronautix site.
