Meshell Ndegeocello Is Scoring Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar

Ava DuVernay revealed on Twitter today that Meshell Ndegecello is scoring her Queen Sugar television drama. The series is based on the novel by Natalie Baszile and the story of two sisters and their life on a sugarcane farm inherited from their father. Queen Sugar will air on Oprah’s OWN Network on September 6th. Ndegeocello’s most recent release is 2014’s Comet, Come To Me where she covered Whodini’s “Friends.”

FKA Twigs Debuts New Music At Lastochka Festival In Moscow

FKA Twigs performed her Radiant Me show at the Lastochka Festival in Moscow last week and she debuted new music that has the fans eager for the follow-up to LP1. Twigs will tour Europe, Canada and the United States through the summer.

Electric Wire Hustle-Brother Sun Feat. Kimbra (Rodi Kirk & Aron Ottignon Version)

Electric Wire Hustle has released their “Brother Sun” single with edits from veteran British producer Ashley Beedle. The new video is for the Rodi Kirk & Aron Ottignon version of the song it has a lot of scenes from the Electric Wire Hustle’s Wellington, New Zealand hometown. This version of “Brother Sun” originally appeared on their 2015 Aeons EP.

Jodie Abacus-I’ll Be That Friend Official Video

Jodie Abacus’ video for “I’ll Be That Friend” precedes the actual release of the song which is due September 2nd. The video’s concept comes from the 2015 Youtube video “People React To Being Called Beautiful.” Abacus wrote the song after suffering through heartbreak and finding consolation in his music. The singer-songwriter is finishing his debut album and will tour his native UK after supporting Laura Mvula on festival dates around Europe.
