Throwback: Ginuwine-When Doves Cry

Ginuwine revealed his love of Prince when he recorded “When Doves Cry” for his debut album,  Ginuwine… The Bachelor.  He was a new artist introduced to the industry from his involvement in DeVante Swing’s Swing Mob music collective. Missy Elliott and Timbaland were members of the Swing Mob and both worked on Ginuwine’s Bachelor record. “Pony” was the single that drove the popularity of the album but “When Doves Cry” was a surprise. Timbaland layered his stuttered beats with dove sounds and Ginuwine disappeared and was replaced by a pack of the birds in the video. Ginuwine is currently working on his ninth album, Same Ol’ G…the Bachelor which is slated for a 2016 release.
