Unsung: Patrice Rushen Trailer

Patrice Rushen is the next subject of the Unsung series and her episode airs tomorrow night. Rushen was popular in the ’80’s with hits like “Forget Me Nots” which was famously sampled for the Men In Black theme song. Since the ’80’s, she has been the musical director for a variety of shows including The Grammys and the NAACP Image Awards among others. Rushen’s Unsung episode will air tomorrow night on TV One at 8PMEST.

The Alabama Shakes Perform Don’t Wanna Fight At The Grammys

The Alabama Shakes made their Grammys debut last night and performed “Don’t Wanna Fight” and the song won for Best Rock Song  and their Sound and Color won Best Alternative Album. “Don’t Wanna Fight” also won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance.

Kendrick Lamar’s Performance At The 58th Grammy Awards

Kendrick Lamar’s performance of “The Blacker The Berry” and “Alright” at The Grammy’s last night started with a prison stage set and ended with Lamar making a connection between Compton and African with African dancers and a fire. Lamar’s  use of live music and jazz made the show sound   like an avant-garde session lead by the spirit of John Coltrane. He took home five awards including Rap Album Of The Year but some people believe he should have won Album Of The Year instead of Taylor Swift.
