P-Funk Keyboardist Bernie Worrell Has Cancer Diagnosis


Bernie Worrell, who is a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic and has played on numerous classics from the band, has been diagnosed with stage-four liver and lung cancer. Worrell’s goal is to heal but also to release his Retrospectives album quickly before his health worsens. There is an Indiegogo campaign to raise $10,000 for the project with 2 weeks and about $500 to go.


The Get Down Sizzle Reel

The Get Down is Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix series that takes place in the Bronx during hip-hop’s emergence in the ’70’s. The storyline is about the way new graffiti, hip-hop, punk, disco,  B-boys and B-girls created a subculture that would influence future generations. Jaden Smith joined the cast to play the role of graffiti artist Marcus “Dizzee” King. Grandmaster Flash is an associate producer and advisor of the drama which will debut sometime in 2016.
