Ava Duvernay Barbie Doll Sells Out

Ava-Duvernay-Barbie2

Mattel released the Ava DuVernay Barbie doll today as part of their six-member Sheroes collection and it has already sold out everywhere. DuVernay promised her Twitter followers a prompt update on the future availability of the doll and to let them know that all profits will be given to the Color of Change and Witness organizations. Both of the nonprofit groups teach their members to use media to make their voices heard and cause change. Mattel had originally planned for each Sheroe to auction off the doll until fans went on the internet and expressed the desire to buy their own Barbie. DuVernay is one of six Sheroes introduced by Mattel in April and honored at Variety’s Power Of Women Luncheon. Amazon does not have an exact date for the doll’s availability but, it will be in stock for the holidays.
