Erykah Badu Performs Phone Down And Master Teacher On The Tonight Show With The Roots

Erykah Badu sat in with The Roots on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and performed “Phone Down” from her upcoming mixtape and “Master Teacher” from New Amerkyah. “Phone Down” starts at 5:30 and “Master Teacher” begins at 15:30. Her new mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone will be available via the internet on Jimi Hendrix’s birthday (November 27th) this coming Friday after Thanksgiving.

Here is a look at Mary J. Blige in costume as the Wicked Witch of The West in The Wiz Live! You can also see Common as the Bouncer of Emerald City and Queen Latifah dressed as The Wizard. The Wiz Live! is a remake of the 1978 film that starred Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. The Wiz Live! will air December 3rd on NBC.

Throwback: Davy DMX-One For The Treble

Queens DJ Davy DMX was a member of the three-man group Orange Crush responsible for providing music for Run DMC’s first two albums. As a songwriter, he has written songs for Jimmy Spicer, Run DMC, Spoonie Gee and Dr. Jeckyll Mr. Hyde. He was also a DJ for Kurtis Blow,  co-wrote most of the Krush Groove soundtrack and produced for The Fat Boys.  “One For The Treble” is his 1984 solo single that’s been sampled in songs by A Tribe Called Quest and Snoop Dogg among others. The song was rediscovered when it was used in the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City video game. Davy D currently tours as a bass player with Public Enemy.
