Jam Master Jay’s Foundation For Music Presents First Annual Hip Hop Lip Sync Battle


Following their Spring 2015 event, Fam Jam, that raised funds for The Felix Organization, Little Kids Rock, and Count Basie MS 72, the Jam Master Jay Foundation For Music is back with their first annual Hiphop Lip Sync Battle. Thrown in honor of the foundation’s namesake, the late Jason Mizell better known as Jam Master Jay of legendary hip-hop trio Run DMC, Hiphop Lip Sync Battle will host top legal, finance, and music executives to compete in a battle of “MC Skills” to benefit a local NYC arts program.

Going down TuesdayNovember 10th at NYC’s Meatpacking District outpost Subrosa at 7pm, the Battle will include minute long MC battles that will finish in a head-to-head finalists championship round. Join some of the hottest artists and industry executives as they reverse rolls. For once, the celebrities will walk the room as the corporate executives battle one another lip-sync-style. Judged by the crowd, contestants will go to ridiculous lengths to win your vote. Tickets to attend the event at $50 and benefit The Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music. Talib Kweli & 9th Wonder-Indie 500 Album Stream

Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder’s Indie 500 album is streaming before the November 6th release date. There are appearances from Rapsody, Pharoahe Monch, Brother Ali and others.


Chi-Raq Trailer

Today the first trailer for Spike Lee’s Chi-raq debuted online and it’s an almost two and half minute preview of the movie about the current violence in Chicago being greater than the violence in Iraq, hence the name, Chi-raq. The movie is an adaptation of the Aristophanes Greek play, Lysistrata and stars Teyonah Parris, John Cusack,  Wesley Snipes, Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett and Nick Cannon. Parris plays the lead character who instigates a sex strike to stop the men from engaging in gun violence Amazon studios and Roadside Attractions will release Chi-raq in theaters December 4th.
