“Love Of My Own” is from Eric Benet’s sophomore album, A Day In The Life and co-written by Benet, James Poyser and Vikter Duplaix. Benet’s first two albums are considered his prime time and A Day In The Life has feature appearances from Roy Ayers, Meshell Ndegeocello, Faith Evans and Tamia. The album is most remembered for “Georgy Porgy” and “Spend My Life With You” and cast Benet into the neo-soul category. Benet described “Love Of My Own” as “optimistically melancholy” because he couldn’t find the right relationship. Benet’s 7th studio album, From E to U: Volume 1 was released in 2014.
